How is the Fit Test Conducted?
Our Qualitative Respirator / N95 Mask Fit Testing is conducted in accordance with CAN/CSA standards, and in compliance with occupational health and safety codes.
During this session, you will be fit tested for a respirator or N95 mask using qualitative respiratory mask fit test methods outlined in CAN/CSA-Z94.4-18 Selection, Use and Care of Respirators. The fit testing course includes:
What a Fit Test is, who needs it and why it is done
Introduction to Respirators and/or N95 Masks
Respirator selection
Respirator limitations
Sensitivity test and fit test
Donning/Doffing and user seal checks
Storage and maintenance instructions
Cartridge dating, change frequency and limitations (if applicable)
With a successful mask fit indicating a proper seal of the mask, you will receive a Respirator / N95 Mask Fit Certification card that is valid for two years (OHSA approved).
What Kind of Mask Fitting Device Will be Used?

What are the Requirements for Conducting a Mask Fit Test?
Please do not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum within 20 minutes of the fitting.
To ensure a proper fit, participants must remove all facial hair that may come into contact with the N95 mask/respirator seal.
Participants are required to complete a health assessment questionnaire prior to testing.
If you have long hair, we recommend tying it back to keep it out of the way during the mask fitting.
